Let’s continue trying to illuminate the perplexing world of ⭐ clothing ⭐
Compression (Part 2)
I find it helps to imagine invisible lines on clothing that react to whatever force is acting on them - this helps me follow the logic of fabric.
Imagine a big evenly spaced curvy line across the fabric
Compress your fabric into the general shape in the direction of the force.
Imagine where the lines would end up after the fabric’s compression.
The areas in-between the lines are now where lines and shade go.

Remember how I said compression was a little more complex than just S shapes? Well here’s a little more on it.
Compressed clothing also form XYZ shapes as the lines of the S shape makes contact with itself - just a big ol’ alphabet of nonsense. XYZ shapes especially show up on clothing sleeves and pant legs.

Peace,
Brosatsu
